


A compilation of practical, entertaining, amusing and otherwise useful information, the almanac has 28 pages and includes local recipes and home remedies, cooking and canning tips as well as travel and health advice, a calendar planner and the Official Persimmon Weather Forecast: "Colder than normal early, then wetter than usual, with several harsh cold snaps."
The booklet also includes several essays, including Grover Brinkman's "The Many Moods of the Calendar." Brinkman, 93, a Columbia resident, has been widely published during his career.
The booklet includes other essays by its editor, John Conrad, as well as quips and quotes and contributions from readers, including the Official World Championship Rules of Kloepper, a popular local card game.
The Almanac has received an enthusiastic reception from its readers and has been featured in the local media, including a segment on the popular St. Louis television program, "Show Me St. Louis." Television personality, John Pertzborn is shown in the photograph at the right with John Conrad (holding almanac) during his visit to Conrad Travel to tape the segment.
